A short description of each deliverable is provided below:

D1 – Energy generation, consumption and storage in buildings

This deliverable takes place at the end of the first task of the FIEMSER project WP1 dealing on system specifications.

The main goal of this WP1, thanks to four tasks is to provide FIEMSER project specific requirements and to define the different components through a joint design methodology that will involve the overall architecture model as well as components interfaces and communication protocols analysis. This will provide a Technical Specification for the next work packages.

The main objective of this deliverable “D1 – Energy generation consumption and storage in buildings” is to analyze a residential building from the point of view of sites that fulfil a double role of consuming energies and, also, producing and storing energies. Energy in this project is not limited to its electricity and heat form, but treats both of them together with the aim of obtaining the efficient use of the available resources.

This deliverable takes place in the project as a technical summary for each main energy related-devices present in European homes. There are not here detailed explanations for the device, only the main aspects in regards to the objectives of FIEMSER project.

The report contains four main parts:

  • The first one is about main loads in home, from water heater to leisure devices. It provides a brief technical description, and principally the average energy consumption with a consumption profile during a normal day and/or a year. In addition, this part contains some data useful for the control and the future algorithm of FIEMSER system.
  • In a second time, there are the local energy sources which can be used to decrease (with the objective to nullify) the power consumption from the grid. In this part are given a technical description of the sources, architecture of classical power grid and a profile of the energy production if available. Like in the first part, there are some pieces of information for control.
  • The third part deals about the energy storage systems. After a brief technical description, this part provides energy storage capacity and amount of energy deliverable, and if available a classic architecture used with this storage device.
  • The fourth and last part presents a non-exhaustive list of captors and actuators needed by FIEMSER system to control and manage the energy in the building. This part gives some technical information about the devices, their unitary price and their consumption (if available and relevant).

The report gives precisions about all appliances in an average European home, and details with technical point of view the main devices which could be managed by the FIEMSER system.

But first of all, the report gives an order of magnitude on the average consumption of each device, and shows which one is the most important in the purpose of energy saving (see the conclusion pie chart). This can give the main way for energy management in the FIEMSER algorithms, and provide helping indications for the start of the project.

D4 – System Architecture

This deliverable takes place at the end of the third task of the FIEMSER project WP1 dealing with architectural design.

The main goal of this WP1, thanks to four tasks is to provide FIEMSER project specific requirements and to define the different components through a joint design methodology that will involve the overall architecture model as well as components interfaces and communication protocols analysis. This will provide a Technical Specification for the next work packages.

This deliverable (D4) has been made as a result of the execution of task 1.3 called “Architectural Design”. This task is within the WP1 (FIEMSER Specification) of FIEMSER project.

The results of this deliverable will be an input and the basis of next Work Packages, namely WP2, WP3 and WP4.

After analyzing the architectural requirements coming from the Use Cases specified in the deliverable D3 – “FIEMSER Technical Specifications”, this deliverable will focus on the specification of the system to be developed for managing in an optimal way the energy in buildings. In particular, this deliverable will detail the network topology, the architectural approach, as well as the communication interface and technologies to interconnect the various subsystems which constitute the FIEMSER solution.

D5 – FIEMSER data model

This deliverable, produced at month 9 of the project, results from the work achieved in task T1.4 “FIEMSER Data Model Definition” which is part of WP1 dealing with system specifications.

The main goal of this Work Package is to provide FIEMSER project with specific requirements and to define the different components through a joint design methodology that involves the overall architecture model as well as components interfaces and communication protocols analysis. It provides a Technical Specification for the next work packages.

The main objective of task T1.4 is to complement the design of the architecture developed in task T1.3 with the modelling of the information coming from outside (weather conditions, electricity prices, gas prices…), the data to be exchanged between the main components of the FIEMSER system, and the data to be exchanged with loads, generators and storage devices.

The followed methodology consisted in (1) categorizing the data handled in Use Cases (see deliverable D3), (2) modelling data in each identified category and, (3) merging the resulting sub-models into a holistic data model for FIEMSER.

Complementary, an analysis of the state-of-the-art has been made through a review of ongoing R&D projects on ICT4EE in Buildings with a focus on data modelling, and available standards in building information modelling (IFC, gbXML) have been examined, in order to build our modelling activity on the most relevant results of related research work and existing standards for information modelling.

It is planned that this modelling work will be disseminated towards the relevant standardisation bodies (as a proposal for possible standard extension), and communicated to analysed R&D projects to get their feedback on the appropriateness of the model to their own concerns.

D9 – Interface Modules

This deliverable, produced at month 9 of the project, results from the work achieved in task T1.4 “FIEMSER Data Model Definition” which is part of WP1 dealing with system specifications.

The main goal of this Work Package is to provide FIEMSER project with specific requirements and to define the different components through a joint design methodology that involves the overall architecture model as well as components interfaces and communication protocols analysis. It provides a Technical Specification for the next work packages.

The main objective of task T1.4 is to complement the design of the architecture developed in task T1.3 with the modelling of the information coming from outside (weather conditions, electricity prices, gas prices…), the data to be exchanged between the main components of the FIEMSER system, and the data to be exchanged with loads, generators and storage devices.

D10 – Dissemination Report #1

This deliverable takes place at the middle of the FIEMSER project in the context of WP7 – Exploitation & Dissemination, which deals with the project website and dissemination activities.

The main goal of this WP7 is to disseminate the results of the project and to define plans for the later exploitation of the project results.

This deliverable (D10) has been made as an intermediate result of the execution of task 7.2 called “Dissemination”. This report covers the activities over the first half of the project (2010/02/01 to 2011/07/31). At the end of the FIEMSER project, a second report on dissemination activities will be provided.

The goal of Task 7.2 is to foster a wide range of activities contributing to the visibility and notoriety of FIEMSER projects. This includes the preparation and diffusion of various information supports such as project website and leaflets, as well as the participation to international workshops and conferences. This deliverable presents the main outcomes of dissemination activities over the first half of FIEMSER project and the activities that are already scheduled for the second half of the project.

D23 – Dissemination Report #2

This deliverable takes place at the end of the FIEMSER project in the context of WP7 – Exploitation & Dissemination, which deals with the project website and dissemination activities.

The main goal of this WP7 is to disseminate the results of the project and to define plans for the later exploitation of the project results.

This deliverable (D23) will be made as final result of the execution of task 7.2 called “Dissemination”. This report will cover the activities over the second half of the project (2011/08/01 to 2013/01/31).

The goal of Task 7.2 is to foster a wide range of activities contributing to the visibility and notoriety of FIEMSER projects. This includes the preparation and diffusion of various information supports such as project website and leaflets, as well as the participation to international workshops and conferences. This deliverable presents the main outcomes of dissemination activities over the second half of FIEMSER project.
